Adromischus are
succulent plants also endemic to southern Africa, so they too require the
shelter of a frost-free greenhouse in the UK and similar climatic areas.
The best colouration and compact growth is achieved when
they are given good light conditions, such as those found on the top bench or
high shelf of a lightly shaded UK greenhouse.
They form part of the Crassulaceae family and are
closely related to the genera Cotyledon and Tylocodon.

Taxonomy
|
Taxonomy is a
filing system, produced by scientists, in order to enable us to communicate thoughts and ideas to one another concerning
relationships between various plants and groups. It is mostly very
helpful to us but cannot be wholly accurate when discussing nature
as it evolves and develops.
|
|
The following taxonomy pages are based upon
Volume 14 (Crassulaceae) of the 'Flora of Southern Africa' by Tölken and
also the eminently readable and profusely illustrated Cactus File Handbook
3 by John Pilbeam, Chris Rodgerson and Derek Tribble.
Tölken had divided the genus into five sections
based upon floral characteristics in his major revision and
classification, and this is expanded upon in The Cactus
File Handbook 3 - Adromischus.
The taxonomy pages and are intended for my own education and reference during the building of
the Adromischus pages; hopefully, they may be of assistance to you too.
