Taxonomy

The genus Conophytum can be loosely subdivided into two man-made subgenera, though the plants haven't always been listening to our ideas.

DERENBERGIA Schwantes with Diurnal or daytime flowering plants

and CONOPHYTUM N. E. Br. with Nocturnal or night flowering plants.

Both of these man-made subgenera can be divided into several sections, each with their own characteristics.

Clicking the small photos will take you directly to the relevant gallery.
