H. lockwoodii forms with
the first H. mucronata to the left.
The wide-leaved H. lockwoodii are
towards the back right with the large clone used for the 1996 Haworthia
Society and Mesemb Study Group calendar two places to the right from the
back corner.
This photograph is from a different camera to a
similar view 'In the Haworthia Greenhouse'.

CC 362 - H. lockwoodii, wide-leaf form
One of three obtained from G&B Cacti ex Sheilams
in 10/1988 but without locality.
Its
statistics at that time being: 5.2cm diameter, open rosette, leaf: 3.2cm wide, narrower at centre of rosette.
It has expanded somewhat and its waistline is now 10cms.
This clone is a particular favourite of mine, so much so that I
couldn't resist drawing it for the 1996
Haworthia Society and Mesemb Study Group Calendar.

CC 2510 H. lockwoodii
FLORISKRAAL DAM
28 plants resulted from Cok Grootscholten's 35 seeds of CG 93-1
which were sown
on 29/08/1994
This clone produces multiple offsets from the 'calloused'? site of a leaf which
had rotted whilst in the seed tray.
It had been growing next to another seedling that
had also rotted and which was removed.
It's very unusual for an H. lockwoodii to offset
like this - worth an article for Haworthiad, perhaps?

CC 1133 - H. lockwoodii, narrow leaf form
SOUTH LAINGSBURG - JDV 89-65
This is one of a group of six plants grown from seed received
from Steve Stringer and sown on 21/01/1990.
The narrow leaves are far more slender than in the wide-leaved form
but make an equally striking clone.
When the photograph was taken,
24/09/2001, this clone had been in fresh compost for six months and was
reacting to the shorter days by actively growing and responding to
watering.
Earlier in the summer the dried outer leaves had been closed up
tight in order to protect the soft, central leaves and growing point from
being scorched by too much sun.

CC 1731 H. lockwoodii -
narrow-leaf form
Obtained from JUM in 1992 at
the Rugby Midland Mart, organised by Warren Withers.
A single-headed plant at
the time, this clone has recently become
dichotomous. |
